The Rich Wigram New Zealand Farming Scholarship (RWNZFS) was set up in 2012 to enable young people over 18yrs to experience dairy farming in New Zealand through a one year work placement. Our aim is to send out 2 candidates per year in June or early July.
The purpose of the charity as stated in the constitution is ’to further the education, knowledge and experience of farming students through a travel scholarship and work placement in the dairy industry in New Zealand, with a particular focus on industry best practice and environmental management.’
The scholarship has been set up in memory of Rich Wigram who tragically died in 2010 as the result of an accident on his farm in NZ at the age of 34. This charity is administered by his family and friends in both the UK and NZ.

Everyone welcome: People run for a variety of reasons. Many will be good runners who enjoy racing and do lots of training with the aim of improving their performance. Others will run mainly for pleasure and will do the occasional running event. Then there are some who mainly run to stay fit and healthy. However you classify yourself you are welcome to join us.

DALWOOD VINEYARD
East Devon Wines
Immediately after Checkpoint 1 the route takes you past the 3 acre site of Dalwood Vineyard
Dalwood Vineyard was created by a group of six Dalwood villagers. Backed by knowledge gained from a course on vine growing at Plumpton College and a willingness to learn, we planted the first vines in Dalwood Vineyard in 2009, the first acre devoted to seyval blanc.
The following year three more varieties—solaris, madeleine angevine and pinot noir—were planted, giving us a total area of three acres, about 3,000 vines. The site is west to south-west facing on a gentle hill (which will certainly not seem so gentle as part of a 62 mile run!) overlooking the village.
It takes a minimum of four years to the first crop with good conditions so it was not until 2013 that we produced a first crop. This we decided to devote to a sparkling wine. England is gaining a strong international reputation for sparkling wines, regularly seeing off champagnes and other sparklers in competitions. So why not Dalwood?
Ruby Red Running is very grateful for the prizes donated by Dalwood Vineyard for the East Devon Round

Seaton Wetlands Local Nature Reserve
Holyford Woods Local Nature Reserve
Holyford Woods is a beautiful woodland, nestled in a picturesque valley near Seaton. In the spring the woodland floor is carpeted in bluebells and the air is filled with the aroma of wild garlic. Oak, ash and hazel abound at Holyford and birds nest in holes in trees, bats roost in handy crevices and tangled roots can provide nest sites for weasels and wood mice. A goyle, or sunken stream runs through the heart of the woodland, feeding the Stafford Brook which runs into the Axe estuary at the nearby Colyford Common.
The East Devon Round is pleased to be a member of the society and support its' ongoing work.
