What is a UTMB Index race?
A UTMB Index race contributes towards every Finishers UTMB Index in the corresponding category (20K, 50K, 100K or 100M) and gives privileged access to the UTMB World Series Events or Majors*. The privileged access corresponds to:
Exclusive pre-sales period
Early bird prices secured
Access to races on a first come first served basis
*Excluding sold-out races where a draw will be organized. In the event of a draw, subscription will be exclusive to UTMB Index holders.
CUT OFFS
There is a cut-off of 6:30pm at Checkpoint 7 (75kms) - This is 13 hours into the race and allows for an average pace of 5.4kms/hour. Runners arriving after this time will complete a 'Tim Howarth' and return to Event HQ via a cut through to rejoin the route still completing a 50mile/80km route. In 2022, 3 people completed Tim Howarths
EVENT CATERING
We are incredibly fortunate to have both Rod and Ben's providing the Friday night meal and soups out on the course, and Ganesha wholefoods supplying wonderful aid station supplies. An espresso machine will also be available at Checkpoint 6.
Marina Hodder (BodyworX Soft Tissue Therapy) will also be on hand to offer post event massages with any donations going to the event's chosen charities (Offwell Primary School, Combe Raleigh Playgroup)
HOW MUCH DOES THE RACE COST?

This is a race created for runners by runners, and is aiming to cover costs than necessarily make profit, with the hope of raising some money for local causes.

We aim to be completely transparent in all our costings, and competitors are often surprised to hear our 'OpenTracking' event safety and timing trackers cost £14/head. For this reason trackers are not provided for the Quarter
WHATS INCLUDED IN THE ENTRY FEE?
The race, the wonderfully stocked 9 aid stations, plus recovery food and cake after, the custom designed weatherproof Harvey's East Devon Round map, East Devon Round t shirt and snood plus other goodies, East Devon Round medal, teas and coffees for the weekend, pint of beer or cider at the end plus pizza. Spot prizes will also be on offer.
WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED IN THE ENTRY FEE?
Camping £10 a tent for the weekend (limited numbers)

Sunday morning Breakfast - This is being provided by Offwell Village Primary School with all proceeds going to the school.

All food for the weekend - Includes Friday night meal, Saturday basic breakfast, Saturday evening meal and Sunday Big Breakfast. Teas, Coffees and Drink for the weekend. You won't go hungry! The food on race day for competitors is already included. This ticket is available to competitors and spectators.
DO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO NAVIGATE?
It is expected competitors will be able to follow the custom made Harvey's East Devon Round map. However, the course will be marked with the principle that where it is a continuous stretch along one path do not expect to see many signs, whereas where there are intricate turns through villages etc., the route will be marked. A GPx file is available.
REQUIRED KIT
Waterproof jacket, emergency tinfoil blanket, emergency whistle, hat and gloves, headtorch (minimum 100 lumens) plus spare batteries, water carrying capacity (1 litre), spare warm top (spare means not worn at the start), mobile phone (fully charged) enough nutrition to have between aid stations, Event map (provided)
A bag drop will be provided at the halfway point

Checkpoint 7 - 6pm runners will follow the Tim Howarth Route completing a 85km route and finishing at Event HQ
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DROP OUT?
As always ideally any drop outs will occur at checkpoints. From here transport can be arranged back to Event HQ. The race also has an emergency plan if required.
WHAT PRIZES ARE THERE?
There will be spot and position prizes on offer. These have all been donated from local companies and are from local food and drink producers you will pass on the route, these include Otter Brewery, Dalwood Vineyard, Otter Dairy, and The Ultramarathon Running Store https://www.ultramarathonrunningstore.com/
GETTING THERE
The Event HQ is at Offwell Village Hall (EX14 9SE), in the village of Offwell, just off the A35. It is less than 2 miles from Honiton and the A30. Honiton has a mainline trainline on the Exeter to London line, and Exeter airport is less than 15 miles away.
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Unfortunately not, and that is coming from someone whose day job is working as a vet. The village hall grounds have a strict no dogs policy. I would be able to recommend a campsite only a few miles away which would happily take dogs if needed
